What personal information we collect and why we collect

Comments

When visitors post comments on the site, we collect the information displayed on the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and user agent string (which identifies the browser) to help detect spam. From your email address, an anonymized string of characters (also called a hash) can be created and submitted to the Gravatar service to verify that you are using it. The privacy policy of the Gravatar service can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment has been approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible in the context of your comment.

Media

If you are a registered user and upload photos to this site, you should avoid uploading photos with a so-called EXIF GPS location. Visitors to this site may download photos stored on this site and extract their location information.

If you leave a comment on our website, this may be an agreement to store your name, e-mail address and website in cookies. This is a convenience feature so you don’t have to re-enter all this information when you leave further comments. These cookies are stored for one year. If you have an account and log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personally identifiable information and is discarded when you close your browser. You can prevent the installation of cookies by making the appropriate settings in your browser software. However, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all the functions of this website to their full extent. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

We comply with these provisions. Personal data is treated strictly confidentially and is neither sold nor passed on to third parties.

How long we store your data

When you write a comment, it is stored indefinitely, including metadata. In this way, we can automatically recognize and release subsequent comments instead of keeping them in a moderation queue. For users who register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles.
