Successful Swiss Hernia Days 2024

The Swiss Hernia Days have been the official annual congress of the SAHC since 2023 and are becoming increasingly popular. The congress was held in Basel for the seventh time. Around 320 participants from Switzerland and abroad came to Basel in October 2024 to discuss the latest developments in hernia surgery. This represents a new attendance record. For the first time, the event was held in the renowned Frank Gehry Building on the Novartis Campus in Basel.

It is particularly noteworthy that 65 young assistants attended the congress, which underlines the importance of the Swiss Hernia Days for specialist training. Highlights included the Anatomical Workshop on the day before the congress at the Basel Anatomical Institute.

In addition, a Robotic Hands-on Workshop was held during both congresses. At the networking event, Dr. Elise Betz from Schaffhausen was appointed a new Visiting Fellow. She will visit Dr. Hector Valenzuela in Guadalajara (Mexico), where she will receive further training in eTEP technology in particular. The next Swiss Hernia Days will take place again in Basel on October 23-24, 2025. The Anatomical Workshop will take place on 22.10.2024.
